Hakozaki Shrine is known as one of Japan’s three great Hachiman shrines. Every June, its beautiful Hydrangea Garden limited-opens to the public on the west side of the shrine grounds. Visitors can enjoy around 3,500 colorful hydrangeas from 100 different varieties, creating a stunning view that perfectly complements the historic shrine.

In recent years, taking photos with limited-edition special goshuin stamps has become a popular photo spot. During the event, there is also a beautiful “Floral water basin(花手水Hanachuzu)”! This is Fukuoka City’s highly recommended hydrangea spot, so please come and enjoy the early summer atmosphere!

The Jiromaru area in Sawara Ward, Fukuoka City, is easily accessible via the Subway Nanakuma Line. Tucked away in a corner of this neighborhood is “HydrangeaPath,” a hidden gem known only to locals, who have lovingly preserved and tended to it over the years.
