[Hakozaki Shrine Hydrangea Garden]A Peaceful Escape Through the Seasons 

Hakozaki Shrine is known as one of Japan’s three great Hachiman shrines. Every June, its beautiful Hydrangea Garden limited-opens to the public on the west side of the shrine grounds. Visitors can enjoy around 3,500 colorful hydrangeas from 100 different varieties, creating a stunning view that perfectly complements the historic shrine.

In recent years, taking photos with limited-edition special goshuin stamps has become a popular photo spot. During the event, there is also a beautiful “Floral water basin（花手水Hanachuzu）”! This is Fukuoka City’s highly recommended hydrangea spot, so please come and enjoy the early summer atmosphere!

[Fukuoka Castle Ruins & Maizuru Park]Take a picture with Historic Stone Walls

Maizuru Park is home to several Important Cultural Properties and the historic stone walls of Fukuoka Castle, which are carefully preserved until today. While famous for its history, it is also a hidden gem where you can experience the quiet charm of blooming hydrangeas.

The main viewing areas are around the Shimonohashi Gate and the Peony Garden. The blue and purple hydrangeas look absolutely stunning against the backdrop of the majestic castle gate and preserved stone walls!

[Nokonoshima Island Park] A hydrangea-viewing spot and island getaway just a 10-minute ferry ride away!

[Jiromaru Hydrangea Path] A hidden local hydrangea spot 

The Jiromaru area in Sawara Ward, Fukuoka City, is easily accessible via the Subway Nanakuma Line. Tucked away in a corner of this neighborhood is “HydrangeaPath,” a hidden gem known only to locals, who have lovingly preserved and tended to it over the years.

Brightly colored hydrangeas bloom along the 120-meter-long waterway. Imagine the joy of stumbling upon this beautiful scene during your daily walk!
