Fukuoka Art Museum (Ohori Park)｜ Enjoy art and an evening stroll

From July to October, the museum is open until 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays, making it a popular spot for enjoying the cool evening during the summer holidays. The museum houses a collection of 16,000 items, ranging from ancient art to modern and contemporary works. It is less crowded in the evening than during the day, also you can enjoy a visit whilst taking an evening stroll through Ōhori Park!

Fukuoka Asian Art Museum (Hakata)｜Directly connected to the station, making it ideal for a night out after work

The Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, located within the large-scale commercial complex ‘Hakata Riverain’ shopping mall in Hakata Ward, is the world’s only museum specialising in contemporary Asian art. Fukuoka City Museum (Momochi) ｜Enjoy history and special exhibitions during Friday and Saturday night openings

During the summer holidays, the museum will extend its opening hours until 20:00, primarily on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, as part of the ‘Twilight Museum’ initiative. There will be hosting events such as the special summer exhibition ‘Collection of Ghost and Yokai Paintings’ and ‘Explore the Museum with the Night Parade of a Hundred Ghosts’, giving you the chance to explore areas of the museum that are not usually accessible to the public!

Fukuoka Zoo & Botanical Garden｜ The popular summer event, ‘Night at the Zoo and Botanical Garden’!

The popular summer event in Fukuoka City, ‘The Zoo and Botanical Garden by Night’, will be held again this year every Saturday from August until the second week of September. Visitors can enjoy a special evening experience, observing the ecology and behaviour of nocturnal animals and admiring flowers that bloom only at night. This year, the Botanical Garden’s Entrance Garden, which opened in March, will welcome visitors with a special lighting display available exclusively during the event period.

In addition, live footage of the Tsushima leopard cat, born in April, will be shown for the first time for a limited period from 1 August. There’s plenty to see!

Fukuoka City Science Museum (Ropponmatsu)｜A romantic stargazing date with night-time projections at the Dome Theatre (Planetarium)

Located on the top floor of the Fukuoka City Science Museum, the 3D Digital Dome Theatre (planetarium) features a dome measuring 25 metres in diameter which is one of the largest in Kyushu and is renowned for its night-time programmes and its music-themed programs. Marine World Uminonakamichi (Higashi Ward)｜A magical ‘Night Aquarium’ experence

“Night Aquarium 2026” starts on July 18! The highlight of this event is the chance to enjoy nighttime dolphin and sea lion shows and watch fish swimming against the backdrop of Hakata Bay’s night view in the enchanting, illuminated aquarium. It’s a hugely popular event for both couples and families!

The “Fukuoka Tower” in Momochihama is a must-visit for cool summer nights! It’s open year-round until 22:00. From “Sunflower Day” on July 14 through August 23, it will feature its new “Sunflower Illumination.” This summer-only light display showcases large sunflowers on the exterior wall to brighten your summer memories.
