The only sake brewery in Hakata will be hosting a summery sake event!
Hiya Garden is back again this year! This summer festival for adults, which began with the hope that “people would enjoy sake even in the summer”, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Hosted by Hakata’s sole sake brewery, Hakata Hyakunengura, it this festival for adults is held exclusively in the summer and takes place over the course of 11 days.
From July 31 until August 11, snacks and sake will be available, and on weekends live jazz and gospel concerts are also planned!
Point 01: local sake and cocktails
This event will star 10 different varieties of sake for you to taste, as well as coctails exclusive to the event.
Point 02: special foods and snacks perfect for sake
Eggplant agebitashi, sesame kanpachi sashimi, and seasonal sushi and fish are among the many summery dishes you will be able to enjoy at the event.
Point 03: weekend exclusive live music
Jazz and gospel music will bring a cultural festival atmosphere to the brewery on weekends.

Point 4: capsule vending machine
Spin the little capsule vending machine and you may receive a small sake related gift. Maybe something special is hiding in there for those lucky enough!

About Hakata Hyakunengura
The last remaining sake brewery in the Hakata area, Hakata Hyakunengura was established in 1870. The current building was added to the national registry of tangible cultural heritage in 2003. They continue to brew sake onsite, and the beautiful and traditional venue is used for banquets, weddings, and a wide variety of events.
