Regarding the Piece
“+ and –“ 1994/2024/stainless steel, mortar, sand/diameter of 404cm
This piece is comprised of a round container roughly 4 meters in diameter and filled with sand. Atop the sand is a serrated bar that impresses a pattern in the sand on one side, while the other half erases what it has made. The piece is themed on the often-contradictory relationship of opposing forces: existence and non-existence, life and death, hope and despair, exploitation and liberation, etc.
